WHAT IS

Harley Smile

Two women smiling together, one whispering to the other at our Harley Street clinic, composite bonding London
Teeth whitening is a procedure that uses a special chemical compound called hydrogen peroxide to remove stains and aesthetically displeasing discolorations from your teeth. There is a wide variety of whitening products and treatments out there that claim to whiten your teeth. Such products include take-home LED kits, toothpastes rich in fluoride, strips and even pens.

None of the above mentioned items actually contain any or enough of the special hydrogen peroxide compound to whiten your teeth to a noticeable degree. This is because from a legal standpoint, hydrogen peroxide is only allowed to be prescribed by GDC registered dentists and therefore is not available to general consumers.

Harley Smile ® is a special teeth whitening technology developed by Harley Dentist that makes use of hydrogen peroxide composites and a special LED light. Being a CQC registered clinic with GDC registered dentist, we are proud to offer The Harley Smile teeth whitening treatment package at our Harley Street facility. This package uses the Harley Technology.

FAQs

What is dental bonding?

This is a procedure that relies on bonding techniques to fill a tooth that has decayed. Dental bonding can also improve the appearance of teeth. It requires the application of a liquid composite resin for restorative purposes or to enhance aesthetics.

What types of dental conditions can bonding address?

Dental bonding addresses an array of dental conditions. They include but are not limited to misshapen teeth, misaligned teeth, cracked teeth, chipped teeth, decayed teeth, stained teeth and gaps between teeth. Teeth that need a cosmetic filling are also prime candidates for dental bonding. If your condition is not listed, do not hesitate to reach out to your dentist to determine if dental bonding is an appropriate solution.

What kind of care is required following dental bonding?

Patients are advised to take care of their bonded teeth just like they would their normal teeth. Brush the teeth following meals. Floss at least one time each day. Visit with the dentist every 4-6 months. Maintain strong and healthy teeth and it will be that much easier to enjoy bonded teeth across the long haul.

Are there any potential problems with dental bonding?

The material used for dental bonding is fairly stain resistant. However, this material does not combat stains as well as crowns or veneers. It is also worth noting the bonding materials might not last as long as other restorative procedures like veneers or crowns. There is always the possibility for bonding materials to break or chip at the tooth. However, the vast majority of patients are ecstatic with the results of their dental bonding.

What occurs during the dental bonding procedure?

The procedures commences with the dentist’s preparation of the tooth. Anesthesia is applied as the dental bonding is added to fill the decayed tooth. If dental bonding is administered for cosmetic purposes, anesthesia probably will not be required. The dentist proceeds to roughen the tooth surface with a conditioning liquid. This is necessary to ensure the bonding material connects with the tooth.

The dentist then applies the liquid composite resin on the tooth. The resin is molded to provide the desired look. The tooth with the resin is subjected to a special light to cure and bond the resin over the tooth. The dentist makes the final touches, trims and eliminates extra bonding cement and polishes the bonded tooth for a lovely smooth finish.

Why is dental bonding so popular?

Compared to other oral health treatments, dental bonding is quite easy and simple. It can be performed within an hour’s time for a single tooth. Furthermore, dental bonding is quite affordable compared to other options. Dental bonding necessitates less enamel removal than other options as well.

Will dental bonding match my teeth?

A composite resin material can be used for bonding to match the shade of your teeth. This way, no one will know you have had dental bonding performed on your teeth. This is the all natural solution you need to look and feel your best in public.
